Tax liens are one of the least publicized but safest ways to invest in real estate. With the rate of return between 16 and 18 percent interest, investing in most tax lien certificates can be rewarding and lucrative.

Hundreds of counties across the nation have millions of dollars in unpaid property tax. In most states, a county or municipality will issue a tax lien on the property when the owner doesn't pay his or her property taxes on time.

These tax liens are then sold to the highest bidder at a public auction as a tax lien certificate. Selling tax liens or tax deeds (depending on the state) are two ways that counties bring delinquent property taxes up-to-date.

Purchasing these tax liens is also a win-win for investors.

If the delinquent property owner does pay his or her tax bill, you can collect significant interest on your investment. On the other hand, if the property owner doesn't pay his or her tax bill, you get to keep the entire property for the taxes and penalties owed.

This can work out to 10 to 50 cents on the dollar!

Most people don't take advantage of these opportunities, however, because information on how to find these sales is simply hard to obtain. At Hudhomes.com, we provide you with valuable information about tax liens to help you take advantage of these growing investment opportunities.
